This fall, Beaufort County Public Works will again partner with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) to remove derelict boats from the Alljoy Public Boat Landing and the Parris Island Boat Landing. Equipment will be staged at the removal sites ahead of the vessel removals. The removal schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, September 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Alljoy Boat Landing

Friday, September 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Parris Island Boat Landing

Thursday, October 22 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Alljoy Boat Landing

During the removal process there will be periods of time when the parking lots or ramps may be closed to traffic. Crews will work as quickly as possible so not to delay those using the facility unnecessarily. Beaufort County urges citizens and boaters to be patient during the removal process as we work to keep Beaufort County's rivers clean. 

Abandoned and derelict vessels are a chronic problem along the South Carolina coast. In addition to direct impact on fragile marsh and benthic habitat, Abandoned vessels diminish the safe recreational use of our waterways and are a visual blight on the landscape. SCDNR works with local and regional agencies to address this issue. Abandoned boats can be reported here.
